UConn Phases Out Webex Platform Amid Rising Costs
The University of Connecticut is phasing out its use of the Cisco Webex platform for video conferencing, citing rising costs and declining reliance on the software.
The decision to transition away from Webex was made by the Information Technology Services office in May after Cisco Systems notified UConn that licensing costs would be 'substantially higher'.
Faculty and graduate students will now have access to a basic Webex license, limiting meetings to 40 minutes and 100 participants, with no ability to create new recordings or transcriptions.
