UF, Google Join Forces on AI-Powered Diabetes Treatment
The University of Florida has partnered with Google to expand its program using artificial intelligence (AI) to diagnose and treat diabetes patients. The partnership aims to provide funding for educating primary care doctors on how to diagnose and treat potential diabetes cases.
One aspect of the partnership involves a special glucose monitoring device that uses AI to detect problems in patients. This technology could also be used to identify individuals at risk of developing type 1 diabetes based on factors such as family history and blood glucose records.
Dr. Michael Haller, an endocrinologist at UF, is leading the program. He hopes that if successful, this use of AI technology will eventually expand across the country.
