UF Teams Up With Google to Tackle Diabetes with AI
The University of Florida has announced a partnership with Google to expand programs using artificial intelligence (AI) in diagnosing and treating diabetes patients.
As part of this collaboration, funding will be provided to educate primary care doctors on how to diagnose and treat patients with diabetes, who could also use a special glucose monitoring device that employs AI to detect potential issues.
The partnership also aims to utilize AI to identify individuals at risk of developing type 1 diabetes by analyzing large datasets of patient information, including family history and blood glucose records.
Dr. Michael Haller, an endocrinologist at UF, is leading the program and hopes that if successful, the use of AI technology could expand nationwide.
