Ukrainian Asylum Seeker Banned from Home Depot Locations in Ontario for Year
A Ukrainian asylum seeker has been banned from all Home Depot locations in Ontario for a year as part of his sentence for theft and breaching court orders.
Levan Meskhia, 40, pleaded guilty to stealing electronics worth under $5,000 from Home Depot on February 11, 2026. At the time, he was already on bail for an earlier theft and was prohibited from entering the store.
Meskhia's case has raised concerns about his repeated offending, with the judge expressing worry that he may continue to commit crimes in Canada despite his hopes of bringing his family here.
The judge accepted a conditional discharge with 12 months of probation, which includes the ban from Home Depot locations. Meskhia was also warned that further offenses could result in him being kicked out of Canada.
