Uncovering Hidden Gems in Google Messages

Google Messages is more than just a text messaging app. After millions of Android users switched from Samsung Messages, many are still using it in default mode without exploring its hidden features.

One such feature allows users to resize the text in a conversation by pinching out with two fingers on the chat screen. This gesture only affects that specific conversation and does not change the system font size or other apps.

Another useful feature is voice message transcription, which can turn incoming RCS voice notes into text for easier reading. To enable this, users need to toggle on 'Show transcripts of voice messages' in the Messages settings under their profile picture.

The app also has a feature called Photomoji that allows users to create custom stickers from their own photos. Users can select a photo from their gallery and Google Messages will automatically cut out the main subject, which can be sent as a standalone sticker or attached as a reaction bubble directly onto a message.
