A United Airlines Boeing 777 scheduled to fly over Denver was canceled on September 11, 2026, due to concerns from the community. The flight was intended to honor the victims of the 9/11 attacks and would have been escorted by four fighter jets.

The flyover had been planned for 9:03 a.m., the exact time when hijackers crashed United Flight 175 into the South Tower of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. The Denver Office of Emergency Management had alerted residents to the event on social media, stating that it did not signal an emergency.

However, officials later confirmed that the flyover was canceled 'following concerns.' The city's mayor, Mike Johnston, acknowledged that while they support honoring 9/11 victims and first responders, the flyover 'may be jarring' to some residents.
