United Airlines Cancels 9/11 Flyover in Denver Due to Community Backlash
A United Airlines Boeing 777 flyover planned for Denver on September 11 to honor the victims of the 9/11 attacks was canceled due to 'concerns in the community.'
The flyover, which had been scheduled for 9:03 a.m., the exact time hijackers crashed United Flight 175 into the South Tower of the World Trade Center, would have featured a Boeing 777 escorted by four fighter jets.
The city's Office of Emergency Management had alerted residents to the planned flyover on social media, stating it did not signal an emergency. However, officials later confirmed that the flyover was canceled 'following concerns.'
United Airlines stated that they still plan to unveil a 9-foot-11-inch monument made from World Trade Center steel honoring the airline crew members aboard Flights 175 and 93.
