United Airlines Unveils Patriotic 'Stars and Stripes' Livery for America's 250th Anniversary

United Airlines unveiled its own patriotic livery to mark America's 250th anniversary. The airline painted two of its aircraft, a Boeing 787-10 and a Boeing 737-800, in a bold 'Stars and Stripes' design featuring 50 white stars on a deep blue fuselage with diagonal red-and-white stripes.

The special livery was unveiled on June 15, 2026, at Washington Dulles International Airport. According to United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby, the airline is proud to play a role in celebrating America's milestone anniversary, highlighting its own history as a pioneering US company that has invested in people and communities across the country.

The 'Stars and Stripes' jet is also tied to a milestone in United's Military Pilot Program, which gives active-duty US military aviators a conditional job offer with the airline far earlier than they could previously receive one. Nearly 600 military pilots have moved to the airline through the program since 2024, with another 500 expected by the end of 2027.

The special livery is not just for show; it's also a celebration of United's commitment to hiring and retaining veteran aviators. The airline now employs more than 18,000 pilots, over 4,500 of them veterans, demonstrating how deep the pipeline runs between military and commercial flying.
