United Airlines Unveils Redesigned Polaris Studio Suites on Reconfigured Dreamliners
United Airlines is finally introducing its long-awaited Polaris Studio suites on reconfigured Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. The airline had initially intended to launch the product earlier, but supply chain constraints and certification hurdles pushed the timeline back.
The new suites represent a significant overhaul of United's premium cabin since the airline launched Polaris nearly a decade ago. With 64 Polaris business class seats, including eight larger Polaris Studio suites, along with a dedicated premium economy cabin and standard economy seating toward the rear, the reconfigured Dreamliner will feature a premium-heavy configuration.
The Polaris Studio suites occupy the front row of the business class cabin and offer roughly 25 percent more personal space than a standard Polaris seat. They include a sliding privacy door, a 27-inch 4K OLED entertainment screen, and Bluetooth audio pairing. Standard Polaris seats also receive doors, though in a slightly more compact footprint.
The airline will initially deploy the reconfigured aircraft on select long-haul routes where United faces stiff competition. The premium-heavy transatlantic routes will see the aircraft first, given the concentration of business demand and the presence of formidable competitors operating similar suite products.
