United Cancels 9/11 Flyover After Community Concerns

A United Airlines Boeing 777 flyover in Denver on September 11 was canceled due to community concerns. The flight, which would have been escorted by four fighter jets, had been scheduled for 9:03 a.m., the exact time when hijackers crashed United Flight 175 into the South Tower of the World Trade Center in 2001.

The flyover was intended as a tribute to the victims of 9/11 and their families. However, officials expressed concerns that it could be jarring for residents who were unaware of the planned event.

United Airlines stated that it would instead focus on unveiling a 9-foot-11-inch monument made from World Trade Center steel honoring the airline crew members aboard Flights 175 and 93.
