United Flight Passengers Alarmed by Feces in Sealed Business Class Bedding

A passenger on United Airlines Flight 837 from San Francisco to Tokyo discovered what appeared to be dried feces in his sealed Polaris business class bedding. The incident occurred on June 25, 2026, aboard a Boeing 777-300ER equipped with 60 Polaris business class seats.

The passenger said the bedding seemed freshly packed and neatly folded inside its protective packaging. However, after opening the package, he allegedly placed his hand directly into dried brown material that he believes was feces.

He claimed small dried particles fell onto his trousers while opening the bedding, with some pieces landing on the cabin floor. The passenger immediately notified a flight attendant, who reacted with surprise and used disposable gloves before handling the bedding.

The airline has previously explained that Polaris bedding is professionally laundered before being returned to service for multiple flight cycles. However, this incident raises questions about quality assurance procedures and whether contamination can occur during the washing process or after repackaging.
