UnitedHealth Executives Flood Rep. Clark's Campaign Coffers Ahead of Midterms
Rep. Katherine Clark of Massachusetts has received substantial donations from top officials at UnitedHealth Group ahead of the midterms, according to a recent analysis by STAT. The company's executives and board members have cumulatively donated more than $100,000 to Clark's campaign during the 2025-2026 election cycle.
The largest donors were CEO Stephen Hemsley and his wife Barbara, who each contributed $7,000 to Clark's political fund. Hemsley is worth almost $1 billion due to his stock ownership in UnitedHealth. Other top officials at the company, including CFO Wayne DeVeydt ($5,000) and Optum CEO Patrick Conway ($2,100), also donated to Clark.
UnitedHealth's focus on Clark, a moderate Democrat with significant influence in the House, coincides with the upcoming midterm elections. A few incumbent Democrats have lost their primary races to progressives who support Medicare for All, making the midterms a referendum on whether the party will shift more aggressively toward overhauling the healthcare system.
