UnitedHealthcare CEO Killer Pleads Guilty to Federal Stalking Charges

Luigi Mangione, a 28-year-old former software engineer from Maryland, has pleaded guilty to two federal stalking charges related to the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

Mangione admitted in court that he shot Thompson on December 4th, 2024, in Midtown Manhattan, using a gun he had made with a 3D printer and equipped with a silencer and magazine.

The motive behind the murder, according to Mangione, was his frustration with the health insurance system, which he claimed caused him severe back pain. He also testified that he had emailed Thompson pretending to be an investor to gain entry to an investor conference.
