US Announces New Deals to Bring Down Prescription Medicine Prices
The US government is set to announce new deals with midsize biotech companies on Monday, according to Bloomberg News. These companies will provide discounts on outpatient drugs to state Medicaid programs, ensuring that prices paid by states align with those in foreign countries.
Under the agreements, the companies will offer lower prices for prescription medicines, particularly for cash payers and the government's Medicaid program. This move follows similar deals reached with 17 pharmaceutical companies, including Pfizer, Eli Lilly, and Amgen.
The Trump administration has been pressuring drugmakers to lower their prices to match those in other developed nations, where patients often pay nearly three times less for prescription medicines.
