US Judge Rejects Breakup of Google's Advertising Business
A US judge has rejected the Department of Justice's request to break up Google's online advertising business, proposing regulatory measures instead.
Judge Leonie Brinkema ruled against the breakup, stating that a series of regulations would be more effective in addressing concerns about Google's market dominance.
The Department of Justice and several US states had accused Google of creating monopolies in the online advertising market by controlling platforms where websites sell their advertising space and conduct transactions.
Google argued that a breakup would destabilize the market and be an abuse of government power, echoing concerns raised last year when the forced sale of Chrome was refused.
