US Markets Eye Mixed Opening as Nvidia Surges on Strong Earnings
Nvidia's strong earnings sent shockwaves through the tech sector on Thursday, August 27, as its stock surged over 8% in pre-market hours. The company reported a 106% year-over-year increase in revenues and a 126% YoY gain in net profit for the second quarter of FY2026-27.
The Dow Jones futures traded 0.08% lower at 53,480 points ahead of the opening bell, indicating a flat but positive opening compared to the previous Wall Street close. In contrast, S&P 500 index futures were trading 0.38% higher at 7,719 points, while Nasdaq 100 futures rose around 0.91% higher at 29,559 points.
Dollar General's shares also saw significant gains, increasing by over 6% in pre-market hours after the company raised its full-year earnings guidance and announced a share repurchase program. Salesforce stocks surged over 10%, while Okta shares rose over 18%. CrowdStrike Holdings' stock gained nearly 9%.
