US Offers Nvidia Chips to Armenia in Azerbaijan Peace Deal
The US has made a significant offer to Armenia as part of its efforts to broker a peace deal between Azerbaijan and Armenia. The country has promised access to 70,000 Nvidia AI chips, which will be installed in the recently inaugurated Firebird data center, the largest facility of its kind in the region.
The chips were offered as a carrot to bring Armenia to the negotiating table ahead of the Washington summit in August 2025. The summit saw US President Donald Trump meet with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, resulting in the initialing but not signing of a peace treaty.
US negotiators reportedly used the sale of chips as a way to deepen Armenia's economic relationship with the US and bolster its tech industry. The deal was outlined in a memo prepared by Steve Witkoff, the US Middle East envoy, who has emerged as one of the Trump administration's top negotiators in international affairs.
