US Open Offers Record-Breaking Benefits Package to Competitors
The US Open has introduced an additional $3,500 package for players competing in this year's tournament. This comes on top of the record $108 million compensation package announced earlier, which represents a 44% increase from last year's $75 million.
The new benefits include a $2,500 Uber credit and a $1,000 American Express gift card. These packages were handed out to all eligible competitors upon arrival in New York, regardless of their ranking or results on the court.
This initiative is part of the US Open's broader effort to improve player welfare and compensation. USTA CEO Craig Tiley emphasized that the tournament aims to be 'player-friendly' and give athletes a fair share of the revenue generated by the event.
