US Open Unveils AI-Powered Fan Experiences in Partnership with IBM
The US Open tennis tournament has introduced new AI-powered features in collaboration with IBM. The innovations include an all-new Live Updates homepage, which allows fans to personalize their experience by prioritizing favorite players and matches.
Another feature is the Serve Quality metric, which analyzes the precise mechanics of every serve using advanced limb-tracking technology developed with IBM Bob. This generates a continuous stream of live data, including efficiency, accuracy, consistency, and ball toss, managed by IBM Confluent.
The Serve Quality score is generated in near real-time, giving fans a new way to understand what makes a great serve great. Additionally, Key Moments provides richer information on the swings, turning points, and momentum shifts that change each match in an instant.
IBM has also enhanced Match Chat, which allows fans to ask questions in their own words and receive instant conversational answers with relevant photos and video context. These features are designed to help fans cut through the noise and experience the US Open in a more personalized way than ever.
