US Open Unveils Groundbreaking AI-Powered Features for 2026 Tournament

The United States Tennis Association (USTA) and IBM have launched new AI-powered features for the upcoming 2026 US Open tennis tournament. The innovations aim to provide fans with a more personalized experience by leveraging live match data, AI models, and player-tracking technology.

According to a global survey commissioned by IBM, 91% of tennis fans use sports apps during events, with high trust (64%) in AI-powered sports content. This trend is driving the demand for more sophisticated digital experiences in sports.

The new features include an all-new Live Updates homepage that allows fans to prioritize their favorite players and quickly access insights and stories they care about most. The Serve Quality metric uses advanced limb-tracking technology to analyze the precise mechanics of every serve, generating a score in near real-time.

Another innovation is Key Moments, which takes the popular live Likelihood to Win feature further by providing fans with additional information on swings, turning points, and momentum shifts that change each match. The enhanced Match Chat allows fans to ask questions in their own words and receive instant conversational answers.

The partnership between IBM and the USTA has been ongoing since 1992 and has delivered some of the most advanced digital experiences in sports to over 14 million global tennis fans annually.
