US Stock Indexes Pull Back as AI Stocks Continue Decline
US stock indexes pulled back from their highs on Tuesday as AI stocks continued to decline. The S&P 500 fell by 0.7% for a third consecutive day, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average dipped 0.2%. The Nasdaq composite dropped 1.3%, weighed down by heavyweights Nvidia, Micron Technology, and Broadcom.
The Treasury yields remained relatively stable in the bond market, but stock indexes were mixed across Europe and Asia. The S&P 500 closed at 7,691.76 after a loss of 53.30 points, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average settled at 53,343.40 after a dip of 116.38 points.
The Russell 2000 index, which tracks smaller companies, fell by 1.3% to 3,017.89. For the week, all four indexes are in the red, with the S&P 500 down 94 points or 1.2%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 389.01 points or 0.7%.
