US Stock Indexes Rise as Treasury Yields Fall, Chip Stocks Lead Gains
US stock indexes rose on Tuesday, led by chip stocks, as Treasury yields fell for a second straight day. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.30% to 53,577.40 points, while the Nasdaq Composite Index increased 0.66% to 26,151.30 points. AMD was a standout performer, rising 4.91% to $491.18 after Raymond James upgraded its price target and rating.
AMD's success is attributed to its growing presence in the server CPU market, where it has surpassed Intel's shipment share for the first time since 1995. The company's overall shipment share in the x86 processor market rose to 30.7%, while Intel's fell to 69.3%. AMD's strategic positioning and strong performance have investors optimistic about its future prospects.
Other tech stocks also gained ground, including Nvidia, which rose 2.19%, and Meta Platforms, which climbed 1.97%. However, consumer stocks suffered losses, with Amazon slipping 0.39% and Apple dipping 0.14%.
