US Stock Market Futures Mixed Amid Inflation Fears
The US stock market is experiencing mixed trading amid caution as strong jobs data and rising crude oil prices fuel concerns about inflation.
On Monday, Dow Jones futures fell by 0.32% to trade near $53,270 during European hours, while S&P 500 futures remained steady near $7,720. In contrast, Nasdaq 100 futures advanced by 0.31% to trade around $29,660.
The US stock market is closed on Monday for the Labor Day holiday, but investors are keeping a close eye on inflationary pressures after the conflict between the US and Iran intensified over the weekend. The rise in crude oil prices has stoked fears of rekindled inflationary pressures, which could impact the Federal Reserve's decision to raise interest rates this month.
Despite market caution, Nasdaq 100 futures gained due to advances in semiconductor shares, particularly Nvidia, Micron, and Intel, driven by optimism surrounding OpenAI's new GPT model. This contrasted with Japan's Nikkei, which slid -2.09% over the week despite a +1.26% rebound on Friday.
