The US stock market rebounded on August 4, with both the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 Index hitting record highs. The Dow rose 1.67% to 54,067.17 points, while the S&P 500 increased 1.46% to 7,711.45 points.

The surge in the market was driven by industrial giant Caterpillar's strong performance, which boosted blue-chip sentiment. Palantir also rose on the back of better-than-expected earnings.

AI trading returned as a major market driver, with the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index surging 6.21% to 11,440.22 points. Micron Technology (MU) rose 7.87%, and SanDisk surged 10.46%. UBS strategist Keith Parker believes this resembles a healthy rebalancing within a bull market.

The recent sharp volatility in AI themes has eased, with investors' tolerance for short-term disruptions from geopolitics and AI trading increasing. Geopolitical uncertainties have also decreased, with negotiations between the US and Iran continuing and ceasefire expectations rising.
