US Stock Markets Close Higher Amid Tech and Finance Gains
US stock markets closed higher on Thursday, driven by gains in key sectors. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1.18%, while the S&P 500 index climbed 1.06% and the NASDAQ Composite gained 1.40%. Goldman Sachs Group Inc led the pack with a 3.34% increase, followed by Salesforce Inc and Microsoft Corporation.
On the other hand, several stocks suffered significant losses, including Cisco Systems Inc, Walt Disney Company, and McDonald's Corporation. Palantir Technologies Inc was the top performer on the S&P 500, rising 7.71%, while Tyson Foods Inc fell 7.25% to close at a new low.
The decline in implied volatility of S&P 500 options also contributed to the market's upward momentum. Meanwhile, gold prices rose 2.38% to $4,519.76 per troy ounce for December delivery.
