US Stock Markets End Higher on Thursday as Key Sectors Rally
US stock markets closed higher on Thursday as gains in key sectors pushed shares upward. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 1.18%, while the S&P 500 added 1.06% and the NASDAQ Composite climbed 1.40%. Goldman Sachs Group Inc led the pack with a 3.34% increase, followed closely by Salesforce Inc at 2.92% and Microsoft Corporation at 2.68%.
The Financials, Technology, and Consumer Goods sectors drove the gains as stocks like Palantir Technologies Inc surged 7.71%, Principal Financial Group Inc rose 7.28%, and ServiceNow Inc gained 6.49%. However, some companies suffered significant losses, including Tyson Foods Inc down 7.25% and Charter Communications Inc at 4.77%.
In commodities trading, gold for December delivery was up 2.38% to $4,519.76 a troy ounce, while Brent crude oil rose 0.74% to $91.68 a barrel. The EUR/USD currency pair remained unchanged at 1.16, and the USD/JPY fell 1.86% to 155.76.
