US Stocks Close Higher on Friday Amid Sector Gains
US stocks finished higher on Friday, as gains in several key sectors led shares up. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 0.98%, while the S&P 500 climbed 0.43% and the NASDAQ Composite added 0.44%. Gains were seen across various sectors, including Basic Materials, Consumer Goods, and Healthcare.
The top performers on the Dow included Goldman Sachs Group Inc., which rose 3.74% to $1,039.41, Merck & Company Inc., up 2.37% to $152.52, and Amgen Inc., increasing by 1.88% to $439.33. In contrast, Honeywell International Inc. led the decline, falling 1.11% to $215.90.
The S&P 500 saw significant gains from Moderna Inc., Freeport-McMoran Copper & Gold Inc., and Albemarle Corp., all reaching new highs. Meanwhile, Sempra Energy fell by 5.14%, Edison International declined 4.11%, and American Electric Power Company Inc. dropped 3.79%.
The NASDAQ Composite saw significant gains from XCHG Ltd ADR, RF Acquisition Corp II, and Werewolf Therapeutics Inc., all reaching new highs or lows within their respective tickers.
