US Stocks Close Lower Amid Sector-Wide Losses
The US stock market closed lower on Monday, with losses in key sectors like Consumer Services, Utilities, and Industrials driving down shares.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 0.70%, while the S&P 500 dropped 0.33% and the NASDAQ Composite lost 0.12%
Among the top performers on the Dow, Chevron Corp rose 2.12% to $206.14 per share, followed by Walmart Inc at 1.73% to $104.87 and NVIDIA Corporation up 1.48% to $220.78
The S&P 500's top gainers included CrowdStrike Holdings Inc, which surged 5.77% to an all-time high of $231.00 per share, followed by Tesla Inc up 5.51% to $367.95 and Slb NV gaining 4.83% to $60.10
In commodities trading, gold for December delivery dropped 0.74% to $4,496.34 per troy ounce, while the price of crude oil rose with the October contract up 3.54% to $86.35 a barrel and the December contract up 5.35% to $90.73
