US Stocks Fall Amid Iran Tensions and Nvidia Earnings Loom

The US stock market took a downturn on Monday as technology stocks dragged down the S&P 500 and Nasdaq. The decline was attributed to investors assessing the potential fallout from the U.S. pledge of an 'economic D-Day' against Iran.

Nvidia's upcoming earnings report, scheduled for later this week, also weighed heavily on the market. Chip stocks sold off, with Nvidia losing 2.03%, Micron Technology shedding 5.76% and Broadcom sliding 1.74%. The Philadelphia SE Semiconductor index fell to its lowest in three weeks.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average managed to stay afloat due to gains in the financial sector, led by JPMorgan Chase and Visa. However, investors remain cautious ahead of key inflation and Nvidia earnings reports later this week.
