US Stocks Open Little Changed Amid Inflation Data

US stocks began trading on Wednesday with mixed results as investors digested key US inflation data from July. The Dow Jones Industrial Average and Nasdaq Composite were both down 0.01%, while the S&P 500 was up 0.10% at the opening bell.

The Federal Reserve's preferred gauge, the Bureau of Economic Analysis' personal consumption expenditures price index (PCE), rose 0.2% on the month and 3.7% year-on-year in July, both above consensus estimates.

Personal income increased by 0.4%, while spending rose 0.2%. Goods prices fell 0.1%, driven by a 2.7% drop in gasoline and other energy goods.

Investors are looking ahead to Nvidia's latest quarterly numbers, due after the close of trading.
