US Stocks Plunge Amid Sector-Wide Declines on Thursday
US equities closed lower on Thursday, with losses in the Dow Jones Utilities and Industrials sectors leading shares down. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.60% to a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session were Apple Inc, up 3.58%, Walt Disney Company, up 1.57%, and Verizon Communications Inc, up 0.46%. However, International Business Machines was down 2.47%, NVIDIA Corporation declined 2.26%, and Amgen Inc fell 2.25%.
On the S&P 500, Skyworks Solutions Inc rose to 52-week highs, gaining 9.79%, while Qorvo Inc also reached 52-week highs with a 6.77% increase. In contrast, Cooper Companies Inc hit 5-year lows, losing 14.67%, and CDT Equity Inc fell to all-time lows, down 42.54%.
