USAF Powers On Next-Generation Air Force One
The US Air Force is finally making progress on its next-generation Air Force One aircraft, with plans to power on the first Boeing VC-25B later this year. The milestone marks a significant step toward the aircraft's first flight in 2027.
Originally scheduled for delivery in 2024, the program has faced years of delays and cost overruns. However, Gen. Dale White, the USAF official overseeing major programs, claims there has been 'tremendous progress' on the VC-25B program.
The new aircraft will replace the two ageing VC-25A aircraft that have served as presidential transports since the 1990s. Boeing is modifying two 747-8 aircraft for presidential use, with the first one expected to arrive in 2028.
