Uzbekistan has introduced a 30-day visa-free regime for Indian citizens, as announced by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during a delegation-level meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Tashkent. This move is expected to boost people-to-people contacts, tourism, and business exchanges between the two countries.

President Mirziyoyev described India as a 'reliable strategic partner' and highlighted the growing momentum in bilateral trade, joint ventures, and connectivity. He noted that the number of joint ventures has increased sevenfold, with 14 direct flights operating between the two countries every week.

The introduction of the visa-free regime is seen as a significant contribution to strengthening ties between India and Uzbekistan. The move follows PM Modi's current two-day state visit to Uzbekistan, which aims to deepen bilateral relations and expand cooperation across multiple sectors.
