Uzbekistan Offers Visa-Free Travel for Indians During Modi's Visit

Uzbekistan has introduced a 30-day visa-free regime for Indian citizens. The decision was made during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's two-day state visit to Uzbekistan, where he met with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Mirziyoyev emphasized the growing momentum in India-Uzbekistan relations and called India a 'reliable strategic partner.' He highlighted the increase in bilateral trade, joint ventures, and connectivity between the two nations. Last year's bilateral trade exceeded $1 billion for the first time, and there are now 14 direct flights between their countries each week.

The introduction of the visa-free regime is expected to make travel between India and Uzbekistan easier while boosting tourism, business interactions, and people-to-people exchanges. Mirziyoyev noted that the philosophy and practice of Yoga have gained popularity in Uzbekistan, with a dedicated Yoga Federation since 2018 and a nationwide Yoga Festival organized across the country this June.
