Uzbekistan Offers Visa-Free Travel to Indians Amid Growing Bilateral Ties
Uzbekistan has introduced a 30-day visa-free regime for Indian citizens during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's two-day State visit to the country. The announcement was made by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who described India as a 'reliable strategic partner' and highlighted the growing momentum in bilateral relations.
Last year, bilateral trade exceeded $1 billion for the first time, with 14 direct flights between the countries operating every week. The Uzbek President also noted that cultural institutions, including the Lal Bahadur Shastri Center for Indian Culture and the Mahatma Gandhi Center for Indian Studies, play a significant role in strengthening humanitarian ties.
The introduction of the visa-free regime is expected to facilitate travel between India and Uzbekistan, boost tourism and business interactions, and provide a further impetus to people-to-people exchanges. The move comes as part of PM Modi's efforts to deepen bilateral ties and expand cooperation across multiple sectors.
