Venezuela has taken a significant step towards reviving its oil industry by signing agreements with major companies including Chevron, Eni, and General Electric Vernova. The signings took place in Caracas, in the presence of US Secretary of Energy Chris Wright.
The Venezuelan government signed a comprehensive bond payment agreement with Chevron, granting access to hydrocarbon reserves in delineated areas for PetroIndependencia. Chevron also announced that it will expand its operations in Venezuela, investing $7 billion over the next five years and doubling its production in the country.
Additionally, PDVSA signed a hydrocarbon production-sharing contract with Eni for Block Junín 5 in the Orinoco Oil Belt, as well as a transition agreement for the area. PDVSA also signed a strategic alliance with GE Vernova to restore electrical infrastructure in Venezuela's oil industry.
