Google has expanded its payment options on Google Play by adding Venmo as a new payment method. This integration allows users to link their Venmo account and use their Venmo balance, linked bank account, credit or debit cards to pay for apps, games, in-app purchases and subscriptions across Google Play.

The move is part of Venmo's efforts to become a more comprehensive commerce and financial services ecosystem. The company announced the redesigned Venmo app in May, featuring a modern architecture, personalization around discounts and cash back, and a social layer that lets users share experiences at restaurants and businesses with friends.

Google's director of business development and partnerships, Pete Albers, said the integration is about making the Play ecosystem even more accessible and user-centric. Users can update their payment methods in the Google Play Store to link their Venmo account.
