Venmo Joins Google Play Payment Options for Android Users

Google has added Venmo as a payment option in its Play store for Android users. The move brings a widely used peer-to-peer payment service into Google's ecosystem, allowing users to purchase apps, subscriptions, and in-app content with their Venmo balance or linked cards and bank accounts.

The setup process is straightforward: users need to link their Venmo account to their Play account through the payment methods section of the Google Play app. Once connected, Venmo becomes available across Google's services, including YouTube.

This addition reflects a broader shift toward giving consumers more control over how they pay within app stores. The integration removes a step that previously required routing payments through a card or bank account added directly to the Play store.

However, there is a caveat worth noting for Venmo users. Because developers can now route purchases through their own systems, some alternative options may not take Venmo. Through Google's own billing, the service will function as expected.
