Venmo Joins Google Play Payment Options in US Expansion

Google Play has expanded its list of payment methods by adding Venmo in the US. This move gives users another way to complete digital purchases and support creators on the platform.

As stated by Techcrunch, users can now use Venmo to pay for games, apps, additional content, and other digital goods in Google Play. The service can also be used to pay for subscriptions in apps with digital content and to send rewards to creators.

To set up the new payment method, users need to link their Venmo account to their Google Play account settings. They can then select Venmo when purchasing digital products in the future.

The addition of Venmo coincides with growing consumer spending on mobile apps and games. In 2025, iOS device owners and Play Store users spent more than $167 billion on in-app purchases, a 10.6% increase from the previous year.
