Verizon Bolsters 6G Plans with Key Industry Partners
Verizon has expanded its 6G Innovation Forum (6GIF) initiative by adding nine industry heavyweights, including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Cisco Systems, Intel, and Nvidia. These new partners join existing members Ericsson, Samsung, Nokia, Meta, Qualcomm, and Keysight Technologies to advance AI-native services in the 5G and 6G eras.
The addition of these industry leaders will help Verizon identify potential new use cases, devices, and network technology for 6G. The forum aims to establish an open, diversified, and resilient 6G ecosystem, develop foundational 6G technologies, and ensure global alignment.
Verizon's CTO, Yago Tenorio, notes that the expansion of the Innovation Forum will refine live edge-AI trials today, ensuring the AI-native 6G network is built to scale 5G-Advanced capabilities. The telco has also conducted successful ISAC field trials with Samsung and Qualcomm, exploring how integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) can support public safety, environmental awareness, and event management.
