Verizon Expands 6G Innovation Forum with Industry Leaders
Verizon is taking a significant step forward in shaping the future of wireless technology by expanding its 6G Innovation Forum. The forum now includes nine additional industry leaders, including Amazon Web Services, Cisco, Intel, and NVIDIA, among others.
The expanded group aims to build an open, diversified, and resilient ecosystem capable of delivering foundational 6G capabilities. To achieve this goal, they are conducting real-world testing of Integrated Sensing and Communication technology using existing 5G Advanced networks.
These trials have already shown promising results, with the network successfully measuring crowd density in a defined area to support public safety and event management. Another demonstration focused on tracking drones and vehicles to improve situational awareness and safety.
Verizon is also exploring how future networks will support AI-native devices, such as wearable devices like smart glasses. A research prototype called the AI Sports Companion illustrated one possible application, where users could receive spoken answers about live player statistics without looking at a phone.
