Verizon's 6G Alliance Gains Momentum with New Sign-Ups
Nvidia and Intel have joined the Verizon 6G Innovation alliance, along with Cisco, in a move to advance the development of sixth-generation wireless technology. The nine new members announced today bring the total number of companies involved in the initiative to 18.
The latest additions join founding members Ericsson, Samsung, Nokia, Meta and Qualcomm, which launched the Verizon 6G Innovation Forum in September last year with a remit to advance foundational technologies for sixth-generation wireless systems. The new sign-ups include Amazon Web Services (AWS), Keysight Technologies, MediaTek, Palo Alto Networks, Rohde & Schwarz, and Viavi Solutions.
Verizon said that feedback from an initial trial of the ISAC (Interoperability Standards Advancement Consortium) was promising, with many participants reporting successful testing of 6G technologies. The company plans to continue developing these technologies in collaboration with its partners.
