Vermilion River Family Man Dies After Life Well-Lived
A beloved family man and outdoors enthusiast has passed away. Dave Tiller died on August 25, 2026, after a life filled with love, adventure, and cherished memories. His wife, Russie Lynn Pierce-Tiller, had preceded him in death by two years, on August 12, 2024.
Dave is survived by his sister, Delma Palumbo, and younger brother, Ronnie Joe Tiller. He also leaves behind three of Russie's children: daughters Lisa Honeywell and Leslie Pierce, and son Michael Vaughn. In addition to his grandchildren, Dave has seven great-grandchildren.
During his 26-year tenure as a superintendent at Mitchell Energy, Dave developed a passion for fast bikes and organic gardening. He was particularly famous for his delicious asparagus, which he grew on the banks of the Vermilion River in Abbeville, Louisiana. Family gatherings often featured Dave's exceptional grilling and barbecue skills.
In lieu of a public memorial service, the family has elected to host a private gathering, details of which will be announced at a later date.
