Vet and IBM Alum Philip K. Sutherland Dies at 87
Philip K. Sutherland passed away on May 11, 2012, in Longmont, CO, leaving behind a legacy of service and dedication to his family.
Born on March 25, 1925, in Santa Rosa, CA, Phil enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps on December 3, 1942, and saw action in the Pacific, specifically on Peleliu, Port Glouster, and Okinawa.
He was twice wounded in combat, earning the Purple Heart with Gold Star, a testament to his bravery and sacrifice.
After leaving the military, Phil began a second career as a Service Representative for IBM Corporation in Waco, where he developed lasting friendships and earned the respect of his colleagues.
