Vet Plus Recalls Dog Supplements on Amazon and Chewy for Salmonella Risk
A recall has been issued for two dog supplements sold on Amazon and Chewy due to potential salmonella contamination. The affected products are Fi Calming Supplement for Dogs and Fi 8-in-1 Formula Supplement for Dogs, which were manufactured by Vet Plus, Inc.
The FDA was notified by the manufacturer that an ingredient in the supplements could be contaminated with salmonella. This poses a risk not only to pets but also to their owners, who may contract salmonella from handling contaminated products or animal waste.
Symptoms of salmonella infection in dogs include diarrhea, fever, vomiting, lethargy, decreased appetite, and abdominal pain. If pet owners suspect their dog has consumed the recalled supplements and is showing these symptoms, they should take their dog to a vet immediately.
The FDA advises consumers to stop using the recalled products and throw them away, making sure the lid is tightly sealed before disposal.
