Veteran Executive Michael Lavin Dies at 82
Michael Lavin, an executive with American Express and Fireman's Fund, passed away on Thanksgiving day at age 82. Born in Portland, Oregon, he met his wife Maxine while attending Seattle University, where they started their lives together in New Orleans after graduation.
The couple had three sons and eventually moved to Sonoma County, California, where they continued to build their family and life. Lavin's career spanned multiple industries, including finance and marketing, and he was an early businessman to break into the Chinese markets.
He is survived by his wife Maxine; five children: Tom, Sean, Michelle, Patrick, and Jennifer; sister Susan; and 7 grandchildren: Myles, Matthew, Alexandra, Declan, Harper, Emily, and Nolan. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be made in memory of Michael Lavin to Mayo Clinic for Cancer Research.
