Vietnam Airlines Flight Returns to Munich After Technical Issue
A Vietnam Airlines Boeing 787-9 flight from Munich to Hanoi turned back shortly after takeoff on August 15 due to a technical issue. The aircraft climbed to approximately 9,000 feet before entering a holding pattern to assess the situation.
The crew followed standard operating procedures and safely brought the plane back to Munich Airport. All passengers and crew members were safe, but emergency services were placed on standby at the airport as the aircraft remained airborne.
The Boeing 787-9 returned to Munich approximately two hours after takeoff, resulting in tire damage and smoke during landing. The Aviation Herald reported that the aircraft experienced a late rotation and tailstrike, followed by a runway overrun and subsequent tire damage.
