Vineland Approves AI Data Center Expansion, Boosting Nebius' Microsoft Deal
Nebius, the company behind NBIS stock, cleared a major hurdle for its deal with Microsoft after Vineland's Planning Board approved Phase 2 of its AI data center expansion. The project will add 600,000 square feet to the existing facility and is expected to provide capacity for Nebius' multibillion-dollar contract with Microsoft.
The Vineland Planning Board initially held up approval due to public concerns over noise, water use, emissions, LNG storage, and the project's scale. However, after proposing amendments, they voted in favor of Phase 2 on Monday night. This approval removes one of the biggest execution risks for Nebius' deal with Microsoft.
NBIS stock dipped 2% premarket amid market volatility linked to renewed attacks in the Strait of Hormuz. Despite this, traders remained focused on the positive news surrounding the data center expansion and its implications for the Microsoft contract.
