Visa Boosts Anti-Fraud Capabilities with Enhanced A2A Protect Platform
Visa has upgraded its A2A Protect platform to prevent fraud before payments leave customer accounts. The enhanced version combines AI and transfer learning technology to provide immediate access to fraud insights, helping banks detect more fraud while reducing unnecessary alerts.
The new unified fraud score is a result of Visa's acquisition of Featurespace in 2024. This integration marks a significant improvement over previous versions, allowing for faster and clearer risk signals. According to Visa, the updated platform has increased fraud detection by 75% during its first six months of deployment.
Global A2A transactions are projected to exceed 5.8 trillion by 2028, up 160% from 2024. With the enhanced platform, banks can access additional network-level signals to strengthen detection of emerging threats across the wider payments ecosystem. This includes identifying coordinated fraud activity and scam hotspots that may be difficult for individual institutions to detect on their own.
Visa's head of risk and security solutions, James Mirfin, stated, 'Fraudsters move fast across payment types, and financial institutions need risk insights just as quickly, without slowing down legitimate payments.'
