Visa Enters Syria with First Live International Transaction
Visa has processed its first live international transaction in Syria as part of its expansion into the country. The transaction took place at a restaurant through Lebanon's Fransabank and Syrian payments company Paymerat. This milestone marks Visa's entry into a newly reopened market, with plans to allow international visitors to use their cards across Syria once merchant acceptance grows.
The payment was made without any financing from Visa itself, demonstrating the efficiency of its model. Instead, Visa relies on banks and merchants to facilitate transactions, adding volume without incurring costs. This approach has contributed to its 14% revenue increase to $11.6 billion during its fiscal third quarter, with a total of 71.7 billion transactions handled.
The share price of Visa currently sits at $379.725, which is 10.14% below the calculated GF Value of $422.57. This discrepancy suggests that the market has not fully priced in Visa's long-term expansion potential.
